Fish n' Chips


"Good taste, very simple recipe for New England's favorite "fish and chips". Serve with lemon or malt vinegar".

INGREDIENTS:


(1) Large potatoes, peeled and cut into strips: 4 potatoes.

(2) All-purpose flour: 1 cup.

(3) Baking Powder: 1 tsp.

(4) Ground Black pepper: 1 tsp.

(5) Salt: 1 tsp.

(6) Milk: 1 cup.

(7) Egg: 1 Egg.

(8) Vegetable Oil for frying: 1 quart.

(9) Cod fillets (fish) : 1 1/2 pounds.


COOKING DIRECTIONS:


(1) Place potatoes in a bowl of cold water. In a separate normal-size mixing bowl, mix flour, salt, baking powder, and black pepper together. Stir in the milk and egg, stir until it is smooth. Let mixture stay for 15 mins.

(2) Preheat oil in a medium pot or electric skillet to 350 degree F (175 degrees C.

(3) Fry potatoes in the pre-heated oil until they are tendered. Drain them on tissue papers or paper towels.

(4) Dredge fish into the batter, only one piece at a time, and place them in the oil. Fry until the fish is golden brown. If necessary, increase the heat to maintain 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) temperature, Drain them on paper towels.

(5) Fry the potatoes again for 2 to 3 mins for adding crispness.
